I plan to revise and edit my second essay to a research paper by adding more information to back up my claims on the negative effects that plastic pollution has on our environment as well as species. Including how zero waste can have a positive impact in the future.
I will be including information on how to start the zero waste journey and where to start. Mainly the positive benefits that zero waste have on our environment.
I will compare my experience to other beaches that have been affected by trash in the past. Mainly reference information of Mumbai Juhu beach in India that was hugely polluted by large amounts of plastic. Explaining how they reduce the amount of plastic by not only cleaning up the beach but changing their lifestyle by incorporating recycling trash into their daily routine.
Chatterjee, Badri. “Despite 50,000 Kg of Trash Being Cleared, Mumbai’s Juhu Beach Remains Filthy.” Despite 50,000 Kg of Trash Being Cleared, Mumbai’s Juhu Beach Remains Filthy, Hindustan Times, 29 May 2108, www.hindustantimes.com/mumbai-news/despite-50-000-kg-of-trash-being-cleared-mumbai-s-juhu-beach-remains-filthy/story-7z92WtckgMfWocuukxgRSJ.html. |
Recognizing why there is so much plastic and why we can't get rid of it so easily. Since plastic is easily moldable and cheap to produce it is a mass-produced object. Plastic has a huge part in our society that we can not get rid of it completely, but we can reduce the amount of plastic we use by joining the zero waste movement. Even though plastic is a huge necessity it can be pointless with unnecessary packaging.
Inform the reader where all the plastic waste is going. Acknowledging that only a few of the percentage of plastic is being recycled or burned the rest is being thrown away landing in landfilled or in the ocean. Including why it is important to recycle plastic by adding information on how long it takes to decompose.
The effects that plastic pollution has on marine life. Give percentages of animals that have died the past few years cause of plastic pollution. Introducing microplastic how if forms and how it is harming the marine life and eventually will be affecting our health.
